KPV is a small tripeptide derived from the C-terminus of α-MSH that retains signaling activity while lacking melanotropic effects. Through PepT1-mediated uptake in epithelial and macrophage models, KPV directly accesses intracellular compartments where it modulates NF-κB signaling and reduces expression of key cytokines including TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6, and IL-8. Research models examine KPV's effects on cytokine signaling cascades, epithelial barrier dynamics through tight junction protein regulation, mucosal modeling in experimental systems, and antimicrobial properties in laboratory settings. Dalmasso et al. (2008).
Brzoska et al. (2008).
KPV was identified through work on alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone, of which it forms the C-terminal tripeptide fragment at residues 11 to 13. Interest in the sequence followed observations that this short fragment retained activity associated with the parent hormone in laboratory models while lacking its pigmentary signalling. Subsequent preclinical work has examined the tripeptide in cellular and animal models of inflammatory signalling, where its small size and simple Lys-Pro-Val composition make it a convenient probe. It remains a subject of investigation in research settings rather than an established therapeutic entity.

Each vial contains the labelled quantity of lyophilized peptide. The stated milligram figure refers to the peptide content, not the total mass of the lyophilized cake.
Reconstitution requires bacteriostatic water and appropriate laboratory equipment, which are not included.
Products ship as research materials without directions for use. Handling should follow your own laboratory protocols.
Store lyophilized material at 2-8°C and away from light. Once reconstituted, follow your laboratory's stability guidance.
